Parkland is a juvenile green sea turtle that was hooked by a recreational fisherman at the Juno Beach Pier. Radiographs revealed a large J hook in the lower esophagus that will require surgery to be removed. The surgery is schedule to take place in the near future.
This turtle is progressing well and responding to therapy as desired.
There is a minor issue that we are working to resolve.

09/05/2018 – Parkland was tagged this week and taken off all medications.
08/29/2018 – Parkland’s white cell count is approaching normal values.
07/29/2018 – Parkland has developed some skin lesions that appear viral in nature. A skin biopsy will be taken next week.
07/04/2018 – Parkland had radiographs taken of front flippers and both appear to be healing well.
06/27/2018 – Parkland has been placed in a larger tank and is swimming well with both front flippers.
06/07/2018 – Parkland is having bone issues with both front flippers.
05/30/2018 – Parkland’s white cell count is still somewhat elevated.
05/02/2018 – The sutures were removed this week. The surgical site is healing well.
04/26/2018 – The incision continues to heal well and the turtle’s appetite is good.
04/20/18 – Parkland is now back in the water following surgery. The incision is healing well and the turtle has already begun to eat.
04/11/18 – Parkland underwent surgery and a large J hook was removed from the lower esophagus. The turtle will be dry docked for 4-5 days following surgery to allow the incision site to heal.
