ADMISSION NOTE:

Lilly is a large sub-adult/adult loggerhead turtle that was found on Hutchinson Island. The turtle has a deep wound on its carapace over the left shoulder that is estimated to be about one month old. The veterinarian removed necrotic tissue, dead bone, and other aquatic debris from the wound. The injury is being treated with antibiotics,  honey, and therapeutic laser treatment.

02/08/2017 –Sea_turtle_icon(green)Lilly’s appetite has improved. The turtle is still receiving laser therapy for the shoulder.

01/25/2017 –Sea_turtle_icon(green)Lilly’s appetite is variable but is likely due to season and water temperature.

01/12/2017 –Sea_turtle_icon(green) Wound treatments have been discontinued. The osteomyelitis in the shoulder is being treated with laser therapy.

11/10/2016 – Sea_turtle_icon(yellow) Lilly became picky about eating when analgesics were discontinues, so a new anti-inflammatory/analgesic has been started.

11/02/2016 – Sea_turtle_icon(yellow) Lilly seems to be progressing well.

10/26/2016 – Sea_turtle_icon(yellow) Radiographs revealed osteomyelitis in the left shoulder joint. Therapy is being adjusted accordingly.

10/20/2016 – Sea_turtle_icon(yellow) A second wound was found on the plastron. This wound is now being treated along with the carapace wound.

10/13/2016 – Lilly has been eating well and is now receiving systemic medications.
