Programs for students grades K – 5 are available all year long.



Field Trips welcome students to Loggerhead Marinelife Center for a one-hour Sea Turtle Exploration program. We now offer two field trip experiences; Ocean Exploration and Save our Seas. Lessons adhere to Sunshine State Standards for K-5 / 6-8.

The Ocean Exploration field trip allows students to visit Loggerhead Marinelife Center for a one-hour program all about sea turtles and their ecosystems. Each Ocean Exploration field trip program is comprised of three components including an interactive classroom lesson on sea turtle biology, an exploratory tour of our Exhibit Hall, and a visit behind-the- gates of our outdoor sea turtle rehabilitation area to meet our current patients.

The Save Our Seas field trip welcomes students to Loggerhead Marinelife Center for a one-hour program to learn about marine debris and what they can do to help the ocean! Each Save Our Seas field trip program consists of three stations including a beach clean-up, a trash timeline activity, and a visit to meet our current patients on a behind-the- gates tour of our sea turtle rehabilitation area.

Cost: $5.00/student, $75 minimum
Capacity: Max 60 students.
Two sessions available each day to accommodate up to 120 students.
Title One grant funding is available for qualifying schools.

Virtual Field Trips allow students around the world to experience Loggerhead Marinelife Center. Students will listen to a brief lesson on sea turtle ecology, get an up-close view of  each of our sea turtle patients, and have plenty of time at the end for questions.  No matter where the students are geographically, they can play a part in sea turtle conservation. The program runs between 30 and 45 minutes in length. Lessons adhere to Sunshine State Standards for K-5.

Cost: $75.00
Capacity: Max 30 students.

School Outreaches consist of a brief lesson on sea turtle ecology and conservation followed by an activity that best suits the needs of the class.  This could be a story, a craft, or a group activity.  We are always happy to customize outreach programs and leave plenty of time at the end of the lesson for student questions.  Please note, we cannot bring any live turtles to outreaches.

Cost: $100.00
Capacity: Max 30 students.
Outreaches may consist of several 30-minute rotations to accommodate larger groups.

Turtles to Go allows teachers the ability to rent a ready-made sea turtle lesson plan for their classroom or school for one week.  Students will work on their own sea turtle “patient,” following steps for rehabilitation and release.  Each trunk contains a set of sea turtle artifacts, model turtles, calipers, syringes, measuring tapes, lesson plans, background information for teachers, and in-class worksheets.  The lessons adhere to Sunshine State Standards for K-5.

Cost: $40.00 a week per kit
Capacity: Unlimited.

Bring ocean conservation to your classroom by checking out this all-inclusive kit to help teachers talk about trash to their students! Interactive activities will ensure students take home the important concept of reducing the impact on marine life and our oceans. Kit includes: classroom presentation, NGSSS aligned lesson plans for grades 3-5 and 6-8, all activity supplies, and a comprehensive marine debris class display.

Capacity: Unlimited

Pier Field Trips welcome students to the Juno Beach Pier for a one-hour sea turtle-approved responsible angling experience. Students will receive an introductory lesson on responsible angling before enjoying free time to fish under the supervision of experienced LMC staff and volunteers. Lesson topics will cover common native species, sea turtle rescue, and proper catch and release techniques including handling and de-hooking.

Cost: $10.00/student
Capacity: Max 15 students.
