Experience some of our iconic campus events for family  fun and  interactive, engaging marine science education. Events are listed in chronological order.



There has been an invasion at LMC! Join us to raise awareness of invasive species in south Florida and enjoy a python presentation, lionfish filet demonstrations and conservation activities for the entire family! Learn about the profound effects of exotic pet trade on native species and our local Florida ecosystems  and meet and greet several south Florida invaders as you learn ways to protect our native wildlife. Not afraid to get dirty? Join LMC staff as we conduct an invasive plant removal project.

Loggerhead Marinelife Center will host its 14th Annual TurtleFest on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Over 10,000 guests will join together at TurtleFest 2017 at the free-admission event which focuses on promoting conservation through up close interactions with threatened and endangered sea turtles, as well as music, art, shopping, educational presentations, games, and other activities. Returning this year is the World Ocean pavilion, which features educational and fun activities focused on water conservation.

Our annual Earth Day event celebrates our commitment to protect and conserve the environment by inviting guests on campus to participate in earth-friendly activities. Join us for a beach clean-up, natural area restoration project and family-friendly eco-activities. We supply all materials for guests to clean up our local beaches and assist with restoration projects in Loggerhead Park.

Our Summer Programming Showcase event welcomes guests to celebrate the return of our popular summer programs and we need you to help us kick off the season! Our regularly scheduled summer programs occur June – September but will be jam-packed in one day and offered for free. Get exclusive discounts on our night-time beach programs and walk through our summer camp room to check out what it’s like to be a Junior Marine Biologist!

Dive into an ocean of conservation fun at our annual World Ocean’s Day event. Experience life in the sea with our current sea turtle patients in our Turtle Yard and explore the dangers of marine debris in this campus-wide event. Guests will enjoy interactive presentations and activities throughout the day to learn about how Our Oceans are Our Future, and that every person can make a difference.

If we can’t beat them, let’s eat them! The lionfish, Pterois volitans, a native of the Western Pacific Ocean, is a predator that is flourishing in coastal waters of the U.S. Southeast and the Caribbean. Our annual Lionfish Festival, in partnership with Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF), features a culinary competition, free lionfish tastings, filet demonstrations and festival fun for the whole family.

Bring your ghouls and goblins to Turtleween for a visit to peek into our Haunted Hospital, experiment with our mad scientists and swim around our center through the Strange Seas exhibit. From estuaries to the open ocean, children will led through corals reefs, Jelly Junction and the Abyssopelagic zone to explore the weird and wonderful mysteries of the deep. A costume parade, mad lab activities, and giveaways are sure to get you in the Turtleween spirit!

Each Thanksgiving week, help us give thanks to the ocean by going BLUE on Black Friday with LMC. Guests can choose several locations throughout Palm Beach County to clean-up local waterways, beaches and parks and enjoy a free hot catered breakfast back at LMC before learning how to cut down waste during the holidays. Each family will receive a Blue Friday Gift Wrapping Kit to give you a head start on how to wrap responsibly and become a part of the solution.

Our annual SEAsonal Celebration event features ocean-friendly activities throughout the day, including a Responsible Decorator station to create turtle-friendly holiday ornaments, a wish garland for our recovering sea turtle patients, and free behind-the-scenes tours of our Turtle Yard.  Kids will have the opportunity to sit with Festive Fletch and share their holiday wish for the ocean.
