Thank you all for your interest in volunteering in sea turtle rehabilitation, at this time due to the state-wide emergency
with cold stunned turtles, we do not have available staff to
train new volunteers. We expect to be contacting those of
you interested in sea turtle rehabilitation in a week or so,
please be patient as we are looking forward to having you
join our team at Loggerhead Marinelife Center."

No experience is necessary and all training is provided. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and must work a minimum of 3.5 hours per week.

Current Volunteer Opportunites Include:

1) Patient Interpreter (aka "turtle talker" or docent) - Work outside to educate the public about our patients, sea turtles in general, their predators and what procedures are being done in the hospital.

2) Exhibit Interpreter - Work inside the exhibit hall teaching visitors about general sea turtle knowledge, our local marine ecosystems as depicted in our four salt water tanks, LMC history, our ongoing research and programs.

3) Greeter - This is that important first impression/front desk position.  Greeters welcome all of our visitors in a friendly manner.  An enthusiastic and outgoing personality is requested. 

4) Gift Shop Sales Associate - Strong computer/cash register skills;
will train.

5) Gift Shop Sales Assistant/Merchandiser/Stock - This versatile, flexible position includes working on the store floor to assist the shoppers with questions and locating merchandise; assisting the sales associates with bagging and wrapping of merchandise. Must be able to lift 35 lbs., be organized and climb ladders/footstools.

6) Sea Turtle Rehab - (Must be able to lift 40 lbs, get wet, dirty,  stinky, and sweaty!) Start out by learning how to clean the tanks and the outdoor hospital.  Then progress to food prep, how to read feeding charts, feeding, weighing, measuring, and releasing.  This position requires a minimum six month commitment and hard work.

7) Program Docents - These docents will work primarily with school groups during tours and classes.
