The Loggerhead Marinelife Center is a sea turtle hospital.  We have cared for approximately 40-50 sick or injured turtles annually.  Over 70% of the turtles we treat recover fully and are released back into the ocean.  In addition,  we also care for more than 1000 tiny hatchlings each season, giving them a second chance at survival and release into the sea.

The rehabilitation procedures at our sea turtle hospital include X-rays and blood work on every turtle and a thorough exam by our veterinarian.  Treatment plans are then developed.  Treatment may include medication, physical therapy and surgery if required.  Once they are healthy enough to survive on their own each turtle is returned to the ocean.  If a turtle cannot be released back to the wild, a permanent home is found, usually in a public aquarium.
