The program features “Dr. Logger,” a trained Loggerhead Marinelife Center volunteer acting as the center’s veterinarian.  The 30 minute program begins when Dr. Logger receives a role-played call on the radio from the beach about a sick and injured sea turtle, igniting immediate excitement in participants. The children come to the aid of a green sea turtle replica and Dr. Logger teaches the group about common injuries and illnesses that affect these endangered animals.

Our education team will design a customized tour for you. The following area highlights may be included in your tour depending on circumstance, weather, and other factors.

Exhibit Hall - Our up front exhibit hall is hands-on and informative with native salt water tanks and a replica of Archelon, the largest sea turtle to ever live.

Education Room - The education room is great for groups to see, up close, actual specimens of the five species of turtles that inhabit the waters off the Florida Coast along with a short talk about the differences between each.

Sea Turtle Yard - The turtle yard offers a front row opportunity for the students to see our rehab patients and learn a little about what brought them to the facility and their prognosis.

Beach - A quick trip to one of the most prolific loggerhead nesting beaches in the world - right in our back yard! Your guide will highlight this and other topics discussed during your trip.  With any luck, we may be able to spot a nest location and figure out what species of sea turtle left the tracks leading up to it.
