Experience of a lifetime...Turtle Walk 2008

Read the information and click on the link below.

Turtle Walk registration begins May 1 here, on the LMC website, www.marinelife.org. Turtle Walks occur on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights in June and July (except for July 4). Turtle Walks are $12.00 per person (non-member) or $9.00 per person (member). Reservations are required in advance for all individuals, including children. Sorry but due to limited availability no refunds are given.

Turtle Walks are designed to allow our visitors to observe the nesting process of threatened Loggerhead Turtles without disrupting the turtles. Volunteers scout on the beach for turtles while the group waits at the Center. Turtle Walks begin promptly at 9:00pm with a 1/2 hour slide presentation. After the presentation, feel free to visit our gift shop, exhibit hall and turtle yard. We will also be reading stories to our young guests and serving coffee and water to all of our guests. We are usually finished by midnight. If a turtle has not been seen by 11:00 we will usually call it a night.

Turtle Walks are offered select nights in June and July to (hopefully) observe nesting sea turtles along Juno Beach. ADVANCED RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED.

We can accommodate up to 20 people per night.
Sorry no refunds are given, any money resulting from cancellations will go towards turtle care.

Wear dark clothing :) and don't forget the bug spray! Bring any other refreshments or snacks, we might be waiting awhile.

NO FLASHLIGHTS or FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWED!!

Summer afternoons can be very rainy but the weather often clears up by 8 or 9pm. Never assume a Turtle Walk is canceled just because it's raining in your location. We will decide at 9pm if the Walk will be canceled or not. There are no rain checks for Turtle Walks.

Once our scouts have found a nesting turtle we have limited time to view the process and will need to move quickly and quietly.  Visitors should be prepared to walk a brisk, 1/2 - 3/4 mile in sand/water and wear appropriate shoes...heels and flip flops are discouraged.

There is no relationship between sea turtle nesting activity and the phase of the moon, the weather or the tides. All nights have the same odds.

We almost always see a turtle but sightings, of course, are not guaranteed.

When: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights
Time: Starts promptly at 9:00pm until 11:00pm
Cost: $12 per person (non-member) or $9 per person (member), no refunds
Where: At the Loggerhead Marinelife Center

*No Refunds Are Given*

Lecture Series-Wild Dolphin Project Experts speak at the LMC on May 8

Researcher of the Wild Dolphin Project will reveal information on the Atlantic spotted dolphins including their behaviors, social structure, communication, and habitat. The Wild Dolphin Project is a scientific research organization that studies and reports on a
specific pod of free-ranging Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis). Objectives of this long-term, non-invasive field research are to gather information on the natural history of these dolphins.
WDP seeks to contribute informed knowledge to help create awareness and preserve the natural environment through appreciation of all the biodiversity on our planet; ultimately promoting an educated and informed constituency who can
vote and voice their concerns about policy and action-based decisions regarding our native world.
Ticket price for the Wild Dolphin Project lecture on May 6 at 6:30 pm is $5 per person for members and $8 per person for non-members. The lecture includes a wine and cheese reception. Contact Ann for questions and for tickets
